WASHINGTON, September 1, 2009 – The Education for All–Fast Track Initiative approved today a US$22 million grant for Haiti to increase the access of poor children to primary education, and improve equity, quality and governance in the education sector.
“This grant supports Haiti’s efforts to achieve the Millennium Development Goal of universal primary education by 2015,” said Yvonne Tsikata, World Bank Country Director for the Caribbean. “Quality education services are essential to reduce poverty and help families invest in their children’s future.”
